Paratroopers liberating the Western Wall (Kotel) - Six Day War,
1967.
Poster depicts a number of battle fatigued paratroopers - one holding
his helmet in his hands - looking in awe at the Kotel - the Western
Wall, after liberating it during the Six Day War in June, 1967. In 1967,
the Old City of Jerusalem was recaptured from the Jordanian Legion during
the Six Day War. No Jews had been allowed into the city to pray at the
Kotel since 1948, when the Israelis lost the Old City in battle. These
paratroopers were one of the first groups to reach the Western Wall
after liberation. An integral picture of Israeli history. Can be framed
easily, and is a must for any Jewish home or Judaica collection.
Poster measures 19-2/3" x 27-1/2" (50 cm x 70 cm.). Please email me
